Mission Neighborhood Health Centers - Call to Artist 

Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) invites talented local black, Indigenous, afro-Latin/x, and latine/x artists to submit work for permanent display at our new Excelsior clinic, opening its doors in April 2025. MNHC, has been rooted within the community of the Mission District of San Francisco since 1967. We are passionate about delivering equitable, compassionate, patient-centered care that is deeply intertwined with our rich Latino heritage. In our pursuit to create healing spaces that truly embody our values and culture, we are eager to acquire a collection of unique art objects that celebrate the heritage of our community and foster wellness and healing for both our dedicated staff and our valued patients.

General Submission Guidelines

●      Submission must evoke or celebrate ancestry, heritage, Latin American immigrants, our roots in La Mision, and/or health and wellness. 

●      Artists must reside in or have a connection to the Bay Area.

●      Each artwork must be of high quality and demonstrate skilled work, good techniques, effective processes, and a unique vision or perspective.

●      Any work submitted must be complete and ready for purchase.

●      All 2D and 3D media, and all artistic styles are welcome, except video.

●      Submissions should have a minimum width of 18 inches and a maximum width of 60 inches.

●      If a work is selected, MNHC will purchase the work from the artist and retain the rights to all artworks.

Important Dates:

Submissions: January 15th - February 20th, 2025

Email Notification: Friday, February 28th, 2025 by 5 pm

Excelsior Clinic Expected Opening date: April 1st, 2025

IMPORTANT NOTE: Artist submission does not guarantee selection. The consulting firm (GALLERY RAM) and MNHC, including our patient-represented board, [DP4] will review all submissions and choose artists based on the previously outlined parameters, the clinic's needs, and the artist’s qualifications. Artists must submit to be considered for purchase. If selected, they will be contacted directly. All applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
